“Community Safety Jobs provide a first class service as they clearly understand what type of person and skill set is needed and will only forward the right person for the right job. They also provide excellentfollow up and are easy to deal with. Recommended.”
South East Fire Service, Group Manager (Community Safety)
The Crime and Disorder Act (1998) stresses a partnership approach to create and implement a strategy for reducing crime and disorder. Along with the police, local authorities and probation
services, the fire service plays a major part in this.
Prevention…Protection…Intervention
The Fire Service can be broken up into 3 areas:
- Dealing with fires and other emergencies
- Enforcing fire safety laws
- Reducing the number of fires, deaths, injuries and false alarm calls
Traditionally a reactive service, in recent years fire brigades have become much more involved in community-based, proactive prevention measures.
This focus on community fire safety involves programs to reduce the occurrence of fires and fire-related injuries, delivered through a combination of publicity and educational outreach.
Roles we can recruit range from promoting awareness and prevention through active community involvement to investigation and enforcement and include:
Home Fire Safety Advocates |
Arson investigators |
Community Safety Project Officers |
Crime Reduction Officers |
Arson Reduction Officers
(including those with Youth Offending skills) |
